A Rare Opportunity - 8 by Zanreo
A Rare Opportunity - 8
And here we see just what this "big new project" is... Rare isn't too happy, even if this brings more money.

And that's the end of the Rare storyline! Hope you enjoyed :D Next up will be a remake of an earlier storyline...

So after that, Rare started working for Microsoft, making more games... however, Microsoft isn't too happy about the sales.

Also, this is the first comic I've tried drawing in Manga Studio instead of SAI... Did everything in MS5 (except for some backgrounds) and... I still have some things to learn, especially regarding brushes and lineart... but I think I'm going to like this program, if only because of those nice bubbles.

A Rare Opportunity - 6
Fun fact: Shortly after Microsoft bought Rare, some Microsoft executives thought they now owned Donkey Kong

(Also, I now got Manga Studio! Look at those nice new bubbles :D)

EDIT: Tried redrawing the last panel after some advice from a friend.. guess it looks somewhat better
Rest in Peace, Iwata by Zanreo
Rest in Peace, Iwata
Today I woke up to some sad news... Satoru Iwata, president and CEO of Nintendo, has died, only 55 years old.

Iwata was a great man, a programming genius and a great boss for Nintendo. This is the guy who reprogrammed Earthbound from scratch and saved the game, compressed Pokémon Gold/Silver so the developers could add double as much data (including Kanto), debugged Smash Bros Melee just a few weeks before release, and cut his own salary in half some years back when Nintendo was losing money so he wouldn't have to fire anyone. He put games before profits, knew that games were all about fun, and clearly cared about the company and games. He wasn't afraid to have some fun and goof off in Nintendo Directs and other presentations, bringing us memorable moments like "banana holding", "Year of Luigi" and "Reggie vs. Iwata fight"

It's still hard to believe he's gone... No more seeing him present games DIRECTLY to you in Nintendo Directs. No more Iwata Asks. No more of his great leadership skills and love for games the gaming world needed.

Rest in peace, Iwata. You will be greatly missed.
I think I'll play some Earthbound in his memory for the rest of the day...

"On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata

You mean that Nintendo conference? I really don't think it was THAT bad overall (except for Metroid spinoff), just kinda underwhelming.

Or something else?
TeamInTheDarkness Featured By Owner Jun 17, 2015
yeah, i meant that, im with you on this, the problem is that everyone want the metroid spin off canceled, and specially bashing nintendo over, i mean really?, i didnt see the same complain with microsoft did its screw up on 2013 and Sony on 2014
Oh god O_O i just found it, all 3 companies screw it up, and 2015 was nintendo time to mess it up, does that mean that 2016 will be THE game year
Zanreo Featured By Owner Jun 17, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
Well, yeah, I didn't like the Metroid spinoff either, but people are acting like this is the worst thing since Wii Music... Like that ruined the whole presentation, mass-downvoting almost EVERY trailer (not just the one they didn't like...)
Overall, it was fun to watch with some genuinely great stuff (Star Fox! Paper Jam!) and people are just overreacting too much to this. But when Nintendo screws up it seems like people always go into full NINTENDOOM mode... Just hoping for this negativity to be over soon

And yeah, after this I'm just looking EVEN MORE forwards to Nintendo's E3 2016... New Zelda! NX!
